Effortlessly blending action, adventure and puzzles genres, California Gold Rush sees you digging through mines- or making them from scratch- in search of riches, whether gold, gems or just lost miners ready to give you their savings in exchange for saving their lives. You view the mine from side-on, giving you a cross-section view of the earth.

Its actually a turn-based game, but its not something you notice until you come up against something else that moves. It might be a bat looking to sink its claws into your skin or a rogue lava flow thatll burn you to a crisp if youre not careful.

You can look around a level by hitting 0, which then allows you to scroll freely. Gold veins are identified by a sparkling animation, but this signpost is only an estimation of where itll be. Follow it directly and you might find yourself faced with a wall of impenetrable rock. Chasing dead ends is dangerous too because there's a stamina meter that runs down with each action you make. Once it runs out entirely, times up.

California Gold Rush isnt too strict in its level objectives though. Youll generally have to collect a certain amount of loot, and there are three goalpost amounts in each level. Passing each one of them gains you a star. Find yourself within a gnats whisker of the top target as your stamina bar trickles its last few pixels away and your heart will really start pounding.

You can buy lots of upgrades to help speed up the gold-gathering process in each level. You start most levels on the surface, by the shop where you both offload your gold and buy power-ups. There are several different types of dynamite to buy, each of which clears rocks in a different way, whether horizontally or vertically, with a big or small blast, plus gold maps maps and other bonuses.

However, a trigger-happy approach wont always work. Not only might you blow up a gold seam, but you can de-stabilise the mines haft too. If it collapses on you, youll lose a big chunk of gold and stamina. Struts can be bought to strengthen the s haft too though.

Through the 25 levels, which are then joined by a handful of bonus levels, the difficulty grows organically. California Gold Rush introduces new elements continually and gradually ramps-up objectives and the number of obstacles you come up against.

very nice game, add it as you favorites, fully touchscreen as well as fullscreen
